That’s funny, I was looking at an old magazine tonight and it had a circuit for adding rapid-fire to your C64 using a 555 timer IC. It had a lower component count too.

Heh.. I modded my controller with a 555 at first… Then got wise to the PicAxe 08M. Now I can program as many firing modes as I want, and I cycle through them with a hidden switch. Two led’s next to the Y button show which mode (of currently 3 to choose from) I’m in.
