Sew Your Own Doll Clothes

Ever since we discovered Sonia Singh’s amazing Tree Change Dolls, my childhood interest in dolls has been reborn. It’s been a long time since I’ve even picked one up, but I am totally excited to apply my DIY skills to transforming some second hand finds.

I am truly inspired by the hundreds of people who have followed Sonia’s lead by doing make-unders on their own dolls. Even children as young as six years old are getting involved in this wonderful project idea.

Painting new faces and creating new hair styles are just half the fun of these doll makeovers. Giving them a whole new wardrobe is the other half. What a truly wonderful way to practice your sewing, knitting, and crochet skills.

Today’s post features some lovely patterns created by Jess at Craftiness Is Not Optional (click over for the how-to). She has developed miniature patterns for tops, skirts and dresses– just in time for spring! You may need to scale these patterns accordingly if your doll is larger or smaller than a standard Barbie doll.

Happy sewing!
