Skylanders, Monsters Swoop Into Maker Camp

During our Maker Camp game design day and our behind-the-scenes tour of Toys For Bob (makers of the Skylanders), we were surrounded by some incredible toy figures. This is Jet-Vac from Skylanders. The one on the left is a production toy, but the other one is 3D printed on a ZCorp 650 full-color printer. The 3D printed models are used in-house to refine designs and develop poses. The ZCorp is about the size of a fridge and prints about one vertical inch per hour.

See (download and mod) the game, “Monsters Ruined My Summer,” that Blake Maloof of Toys for Bob designed especially for Maker Camp on Google+. And watch the archive of the Hangout on Air with Blake and character/toy designer I-Wei Huang.
