Wearing Flowers

Craft & Design Gardening

Sometimes in spring, I’ve had the thought that I would love to cover myself in roses, or make an elaborate hat from jasmine blossoms so I can carry their scent with me everywhere. Worn Through, a blog that examines clothes through an academic lens, has a wonderful round-up of flowers used in fashion, including this amazing “Camellia Contessa” piece by artist Nicole Dextras. While a dress like this would obviously be hard to wear, it definitely makes me think about incorporating fresh flowers into my outfits when I can, whether it’s a few violets tucked into a bun or a sprig of rosemary pinned to my jacket. It used to be far more common to wear flowers, and it’s a cheap and easy way to spruce up your day! (Thanks Laura for introducing me to the Worn Through blog!)
