I always enjoy seeing all the crafty ingenuity out on the internets, and this holiday season is no exception. I’ve been too busy here at work to do any Christmas or wintery crafts yet myself, but I’m gathering links galore to inspire my family and me starting this weekend when things begin to calm down.
Here are some favorite recent finds. In the Comments, please share your own wintery craft projects, links to your inspirational websites, and anything else you feel like mentioning. Something with snowflakes would be most appreciated as it’s been Brrr, cold! this week and I’ve got icy snow on the mind.
Whorange Holiday Cards A Go Go This round up includes all the indie favorites, plenty of letterpress, and some very witty prose. Not to mention deer, birds, squirrels, and owls for days. What struck me about these cards is that they all gave me the impression that their creators were having fun when they designed them. And that makes me happy.
Festive Hanukkah LED Menorah
Amy Parness and Ariel Churi make fun and fabulous electronics kits and more at Sparkle Labs. It’s too late to make their amazing light up LED Turkey Centerpiece, but since Hanukkah starts tomorrow, this cute paper-craft-meets-electronics-fun menorah seems like the perfect easy project to wire up.
Crafty Tree Trimmings
This ebook contains the glorious instructions for 6 different and all totally cute Christmas ornaments by a veritable Who’s Who of Crafty Divas — Betz White, Linda Permann, Sister Diane, Susan Beal, Kayte Terry, and Patricia Zapata. Not only do some of the proceeds got to the very worthy Project Linus, but now we can get the ebook for $3 off the cover price. It sounds cliche, but I really can’t decide which ornament to make first because they’re all so adorable. Great job, crafty ladies!
I don’t have to look far from my own desk to find inspiration. The Maker Shed offers a growing number of crafty kits and projects, from cute knit-felt animals to felted LED ornaments to light up circuit board Christmas trees and menorahs. The Rudolph ornament is a big winner in my book, as is the super cute knit-and-felted fox.
