If you’re in the Bay Area this weekend, don’t miss the Ohio Knitting Mills Trunk Show that’s happening at Design Within Reach (1913 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, 415-567-1263). I first heard about this company from a post by Cathy of California so when I heard they were coming to SF, I knew I had to see the vintage goods for myself!
The preview party was last night and I had lots of fun checking out the beautifully designed vintage knitwear. The Brooklyn based Ohio Knitting Mills offers unique virgin vintage knitwear made from 1947-74. Made at the historic Cleveland, Ohio mill, this rare collection of never worn and one-of-a-kind fashion design artifacts is now being shown for the very first time in the Bay Area. It’s definitely worth it to check out and find yourself a vintage gem in the process.
Here’s some of the highlights of the event:
Shoppers had fun browsing throughout the store among the designer furniture while sipping on beers and noshing on treats at the preview party.
Steven Tatar, President/Creative Director of Ohio Knitting Mills, knows everything about each sweater. He spent time helping shoppers know more about the workmanship that goes into each sweater like this one which was later purchased by the woman in the middle.
Here’s Caitlin Gaffney of DWR looking stylish while modeling a 1967-68 sweater dress.
The Ohio Knitting Mills Trunk Show runs from Friday through Sunday, August 10-12 at Design Within Reach, 1913 Fillmore Street (between Bush and Pine) in San Francisco. For more info on the event, you can visit the DWR web site here. – Link.
