For all you fiber + art lovers in the Bay Area, CRAFT friend Ashley Helvey has a event coming up on Tuesday, May 12th at the August gallery in Oakland that you won’t want to miss!
“Sheep and Weeds” is a collaboration between Ashley Helvey and Sasha Duerr, natural dyer and textile educator who teaches sustainable textiles at California College of the Arts, and has been featured in Selvedge Magazine for natural dyes among other publications. Ashley Helvey has been featured in museums and runway shows for her artistry with organic handmade felt.
The evening also feature a special menu with Jerome Waag, artist and Chez Panisse chef who will just be returning from cooking for the Olafur Eliasson event in Chicago and will be collaborating on a slow dinner in relation to the work in Sheep and Weeds. It will highlight the important intersections in our food systems, art, design, and the environment.
