This weekend, June 27 and 28, at historic Kansas City Union Station, marks the sixth annual Maker Faire Kansas City. Through the tireless efforts of the organizing team, led by Jerry Baber (and the continued support of founding sponsors Kaufmann Foundation), the event has grown and flourished exponentially over the last five years.

This year’s gathering is guaranteed to be the biggest and best one yet. We connected with organizers Margaret Hoang and Luis Rodriguez to get the inside scoop on the top 10 must-see projects, workshops, and events at this year’s Maker Faire Kansas City. Here they are, in no particular order.

1. Dunk Tank Flambé (Two Bit Circus!)

Experience this jaw-dropping reimagined version of the classic dunk tank attraction. Instead of being dropped into a harmless tank of water, the brave soul who dares to enter the Dunk Tank Flambé will be engulfed head to toe in flames when the ball-tosser successfully hits the target. Also, enjoy their Human Foosball (pictured below), quadcopter course, and Kings game in the West Lot.

2. KC Film + Media Script-to-Screen

I'm a word nerd who loves to geek out on how emerging technology affects the lexicon. I was an editor on the first 40 volumes of MAKE, and I love shining light on the incredible makers in our community. In particular, covering art is my passion — after all, art is the first thing most of us ever made. When not fawning over perfect word choices, I can be found on the nearest mountain, looking for untouched powder fields and ideal alpine lakes.
