Serpent Mother
Serpent Mother is one of the most well-known fire sculptures. Sitting at an enormous 168 ft long, it is also one of the largest. The giant sculpture is of a snake protecting her egg, but she’s so much more than that.
Serpent Mother is not only famous for her size, but also for the fact that she’s interactive. The crowd controls how the robotic sculpture moves – they even control her 41 flame-throwing “poofers” that launch fire 20ft into the air. The Flaming Lotus Girls are the creators of this piece (and another one that made our favorites) and some folks across the nation were lucky enough to have seen it themselves when it went on tour.
