Apple new iTunes (8) is out today and while there are interesting things in it for folks who really follow Apple, there’s also something which might be *very* interesting for the processing fans – it appears that’s Robert Hodgin’s work is now featured as the iTunes visualizer. It’s unclear if Apple made some type of Processing to real-time engine for iTunes or something else. I’m sure there will be more details soon. Here’s a video of Magnetosphere in action, it’s pretty much the new visualizer… and here’s a rumor about it from earlier in the week.
A little update, the plugin for iTunes that Robert / Barbarian group “Magnetosphere” is indeed part of iTunes.
Hey there. Thanks for your interest in Magnetosphere. We’re insanely, ridiculously proud to say that Magnetosphere now lives in iTunes – Apple’s world-class media player for Mac and PC. You can download iTunes with Magnetosphere built-in here. The Barbarian Group no longer maintains, develops or owns Magnetosphere. We do, however, own a lot of shoes.
So, it looks like there was some type of Processing to iTunes action and Apple “acquired” it in some way, congrats guys! Maybe it will be possible for others to make their own visualizers using processing down the road too with this.
More updates… Brady @ Radar has more details, from last year!
