Holidays and crafting go hand-in-hand, and Martha Stewart’s Handmade Holiday Crafts is chock full of holiday how-tos (225 projects to be exact!). She starts the book off with New Years (ie. party hats, streamers, and glittered stirrers), then moves on in calendar order to Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day (love the sea glass jewelry!), Father’s Day, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas. Her instructions are nice and clear with lots of helpful “step” photos (but what else would you expect from Martha?). With holiday season coming right up, I’ve got my eye on her Halloween vampire bat piñata, her Thanksgiving tabletop accents (with a great napkin-folding technique section), and her holiday gift-wrapping ideas.
For a sneak peek of the book, here’s a papier-maché pumpkin project excerpt, which, when finished, is lit with battery powered lights. Perfect for your window, porch, or a stairway.
