Fabric Bunting Mini-Pennants
merriweathercouncil_mini_pennants.jpg
This charming mini-pennant strand by merriweathercouncil on Etsy is a mix of vintage and new patterned fabrics strung on handmade bias tape – lovely! Each pennant triangle is backed with another fabric, so both sides are unique. This set is 63 inches long and one of a kind, but she offers other options in her shop, along with embroidered pennant decorations for good measure! Perfect for a birthday party or any special get-together.

Bicycle Picnic Baskets

There’s a whole line of gorgeous picnic baskets handmade in New Hampshire by Peterboro Basket Company, ranging from the mini Schooltime Lunch version for kids to my favorite, the Picnic Time Bicycle Basket. Each basket is hand-woven in white ash (the tough, durable wood that baseball bats are also made from) and available in different stains or colors. I can’t think of a nicer spring afternoon than riding your bike to a park or the beach and enjoying a picnic with friends. (They even offer an insulated cooler version for keeping drinks or food cold!)

These Rattle-N-Roll super-customizable rock poster-style birth announcements are awesome! Send in a photo of your baby or child, and they’ll convert it into a portrait on the spot. You choose colors, styles, and details to include, and they make it all into a set of 8.5 x 5.5 cards with envelopes, or a larger set of 11 x 17-inch posters. They’ll also make you wedding, graduation or party invitations using any image you like!
Birth announcements/party invites, from $200 per set.
Meadowettes Coasters by Sesame Letterpress

This lovely coasters set hand-printed by Sesame Letterpress offers two each of four flower designs, printed in waterproof ink on sturdy, thick cardstock rounds. I think it would be a perfect party favor – you could send each guest home with a souvenir coaster at the end of your get-together. If you’re not the floral type, they also make 15 other animal coaster designs, including raccoons, foxes, sheep, goldfish, and a regal sandpiper.
Meadowette Coasters, $12 for a set of 8
Make Your Own Soda

I’ve always wanted to try making homemade sodas and seltzers, and this SodaStream machine makes the whole process super easy – just mix in your own syrups or flavorings for custom drinks deluxe, in reusable bottles that efficiently preserve the carbonation. The company also has a strong environmental mission: “Our vision is to create a world free of beverage bottles [and] heighten awareness of the literally growing waste problems of our society.” This display they made with 10,000 cans and bottles shows five years’ worth of soda containers for an average family! Pretty staggering.
SodaStream machine, from about $120
