Handcrafted America is back! Hosted by the wonderful and enthusiastic Jill Wagner, this show visits craftspeople in their own workspaces and lets them really shine. Last year’s series was really fun to watch. It is light hearted, but still meaningful. The cinematography was beautiful, my personal favorite being the hot glass episode, and I can’t wait for more.

This year, Jill is back and they’ll be meeting with a variety of truly skilled makers from all over America. In every half‐hour episode, Jill meets three gifted makers, and takes you behind‐the‐scenes in their workshops and studios, for a look at how they create their products, from start to finish.

You’ll get to know the artisans as they reveal not only their techniques, but also what fuels their passion for their craft, and how history and their cultural heritage inspire and influence the design of their handcrafted goods. Through their stories you’ll see into their lives, their journeys and their dreams, and perhaps be inspired to try your hand at creating a work of functional art, as well.

You’ll meet Bob Denman, who left a career in advertising to produce hand-forged garden tools. José Martinez, who revived a family leatherworking tradition with his finely-crafted backpacks. Eric Watson, and learn how his hat making career was inspired by his childhood admiration for the hat worn by the Indiana Jones . See how Charles Wendt started making spurs as a way to inspire the children of ranch workers to stay in school and learn a trade. Hear about how Lukasz Wronski started playing violin in his native Poland at age 9 and by 13 was apprenticing with a distinguished atelier, now an award-winning, custom violin maker based in New York.
