Andy Kong, co-producer of the 2nd annual Hong Kong Mini Maker Faire, made it into the South China Morning Post today.

The article does a nice job of covering Hong Kong’s growing maker scene as well as the Hong Kong Mini Maker Faire’s Call for Makers, which is live now through July 20th. (The fair itself is on Saturday, August 17th.)

Mike Li, also a member of the Hong Kong Mini Maker Faire organizing team, fills the Post in on the team’s attendee and maker exhibit projections:

“This year the space is four times larger,” says co-founder Mike Li. “We had 20 makers at the last fair and this year we will have 50. The audience last time was 600, and this year we expect 2,500.”

The growth is impressive, but Li is in no hurry. “We are taking it slowly and we want it to grow slowly each year. It’s a long-term project. We want to build up the community.”

The Business of Robotics blog also covered the Hong Kong fair today in their article “Maker movement currently alive and well in Asia.”  They did an accurate recount of the evolution of Maker Faire in Asia (Shenzhen, Taiwan, Seoul, Tokyo) except for the omission of the Singapore Mini Maker Faire coming July 27 & 28, 2013.

Any makers out there game for showing at Singapore in July and staying over a few weeks for Hong Kong?
