Laser-Cut VW Vanagon

Laser-Cut VW Vanagon

The laser cutter is an amazing machine. The level of precision is impressive — it can transform a digital rendering into a beautiful object, being faithful to the exact design, down to the smallest detail. Flickr user Greyerlynx used a laser cutter to immortalize his 1986 VW Vanagon in a five-layer cutaway. I think it’s beautiful!

He notes in one of the photo captions that he accidentally turned it into a right-hand drive.

If you’re interested in trying out a laser cutter, check out your local hackerspace. Many have laser cutters and 3D printers available to members. Or you can send your design to a laser-cutting service provider like Ponoko.
