This week’s question: When you decide to start working on a project, what is your routine for preparation, and what is the rhythm of your workflow as you labor away?
I always “normalize” my workshop by cleaning it all up, then setting out the things I know I’m going to need. But once I get going, I’m like a cyclone. Tools and parts are strewn everywhere and I work until I’ve had enough. Then the process repeats. If I’m working while sitting down, on an electronics project for instance, I’ll make mixtapes (yes, as in cassettes) to break up the monotony of the work.
