MAKE Flickr photo pool member Vrogy made an evil robot hand/coathanger inspired by the Instructable we posted up. He writes – “It’s cut out of 1/4″ mild steel with an oxy-acetylene torch, by hand, then I bent it into shape over an old Vulcan anvil we have at the shop with a hand sledge.”Link.

  • HOW TO – Make a giant steel skeleton hand (and coat rack) – Link.
  • Primer: Welding. If you need metal stuck together, there is no quicker path than buying a portable 110-volt wire-feed welder. Mr. Jalopy’s introduction to welding will help you understand the process and show how you can be a welder by the end of the weekend–and end up with a couple of jigs for the effort.
