In today’s Thursday Styles section of the NY Times is a great article “The Knitting Circle Shows Its Chic” by Ruth La Ferla about us crafters, specifically focusing on the new intersection of crafts and fashion. Who knew that fashion designer Marc Jacobs was inspired by the quilts of Gee’s Bend in his spring 2007 collection?!

The new generation of needle hobbyists, nimble-fingered women in their 20s and 30s, is growing ever more sophisticated, seeking out novel yarns imbued with bamboo or fur, working confidently with elaborate patterns, swapping tips online and emulating styles by fashion designers like Marc Jacobs, Nicolas Ghesquiere of Balenciaga and Michael Kors.
