If you’ve ever had chickens, you know that the morning trip out to acquire fresh eggs can sometimes be less than pleasant, especially if it is raining or cold out. Leo Southam, 9, decided to do something about that unpleasant trip. He rigged up a simple gutter system to deliver the eggs softly to a sled which he could pull to his back door from inside.
After he has had a chance to wake up, eat some breakfast, and get dressed, he puts everything back in place, ready for the next day.
Building this took quite a bit of trial and error:
I encountered many problems, but the hardest one to fix was balancing the pipe on the egg box simulation. In the end I fixed it by attaching the pipe to the egg box with screws. What took me the longest to build was the egg box simulation.
This is such a great example of how a simple system can improve your daily life. Leo did a great job on this and will be bringing the example shown above to the Westport Mini Maker Faire to show off.
