ShopBot is setting up @ Maker Faire, here are some of the details…
For the first time, ShopBot Tools is holding its annual ShopBot Jamboree at the San Mateo Fairgrounds for the three days leading up to the Maker Faire. ShopBot will then spend the weekend as a sponsor and exhibitor at the Maker Faire.
On Wednesday, the first day of the Jamboree, ShopBot offered, at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Foster City, a condensed version of ShopBot Basic Training, which covered the fundamentals of CNC technology, the basics of part design and toolpathing on ShopBot PartWizard software and the tooling and cutting methods of effective CNC part production. Other ShopBot employees spent the day at the San Mateo Fairgrounds setting up two of the three ShopBot CNC systems that will be featured at the ShopBot Jamboree as well as the Maker Faire – the PRSalpha, the PRSstandard and the PRSBenchTop…
Later in the evening, from 6-8 p.m., ShopBot hosted their registration and social hour to mark the official start of the Jamboree. ShopBot’s Ted Hall, Bill Palumbo and Bill Young spoke briefly about the agenda and focus of the Jamboree and Make Magazine’s Dale Dougherty commented on the similarities of ShopBotters and the new definition of “Maker.”
The ShopBot Jamboree will take place from May 16-18 and the Maker Faire will take place from May 19-20.
