Chuck has the latest from “The Week in Tools”!

This week we found a collapsible barrel that’s perfect for hauling grass clippings — small holes keep you from carrying around unnecessary water weight by draining it out the bottom — and came across a great way to ditch yet another pollution-spewing gas-powered lawn tool: a foot-powered edger. We looked at an $8 canvas tool bag that’d be perfect for starting a toolkit for your car, and a trailer adapter complete with “beep tester” that (so the manufacturer claims) checks out your trailer wiring without an accomplice to stand behind the trailer and holler when the lights are on. We also ran across a smaller and more portable version of the massive, hydraulic tree spades contractors use to plant trees the easy way; it’s available for rent in many locations cheap enough to make you think twice about moving a medium-sized tree with a shovel again.
