Barcelona held a mini Maker Faire last month and this weekend
Bilbao is holding its first mini Maker Faire
July 13-14. Way to go, Spain!

If you find yourself in northern Spain this weekend, Bilbao’s Maker Faire at the Maritime Museum is not to be missed. There are several makers and projects worth checking out:

    • A giant robot made from 1,000 heads of lettuce created by the green minds at Not Only Arquitects.
    • A “washing machine orchestra” that plays music from Star Wars, the Rolling Stones, and Mario Bros created by The Lumen Effect.

  • A project to turn a 200-foot crane into a rope ride, records the riders’ faces, and then create a video montage of the fun.
  • The “nanodrone,” a low-cost, open source drone ($150) that fits into the palm of your hand and is operated by smartphone or tablet.
