Adrianne Cohen’s new book “Help, It’s Broken” teaches us how to do some DIY repairs on our stuff instead of replacing it. There are lots of great tips here, including tips on refurbishing old instead of buying new, finding spare parts for old appliances, and buying imperfect items that would get thrown out. “Help, It’s Broken” is kind of like a less grating Matthew Lesko (you know, the annoying guy with the question mark suit) for DIYers.

Who needs the expense of solar power when you have pedal power? Universal Hovercraft is offering plans (for a nominal fee, of course) through their website to make your own pedal-powered hovercraft. Hey, sometimes you have to shell out a little bit of cash to live out your “Back to the Future” hovercraft fantasies.

These tumblers made from recycled Mexican beer bottles are not only a great re-use of an item a lot of us simply discard, it looks like it could be a lot of fun as well. So what would you drink out of a beer bottle tumber? Well, drinking beer out of this would be too boring, but serving apple juice to your kids in it: that is creativity.
