This post is coming to you live from Maker Faire UK being held this weekend at the Life Science Centre here in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
This weekend is the high point of the maker year here in Britain with Maker Faire UK running all weekend here in the Life Science Centre in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. This year is the fifth Maker Faire to be held in Newcastle and it’s larger than ever, with 350 makers, with projects from the giant car-crushing Robohand — whose creators brought it over from Amsterdam just for the faire — down to tiny in intricate wooden toys and new micro-controller boards.
Next year, Maker Faire UK will be joined by a full scale faire. Our third flagship event will join the Bay Area and New York Maker Faires as one of our largest, and will be held in East London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park at the Here East complex.
The faire opened its doors at 10am this morning, and will be open all day today, until 6pm, and then again tomorrow from 10am till 5pm. Tickets are available on the door.
But if you can’t make it here to Newcastle, there are six other mini-Maker Faires running this weekend for you to choose from. So roll up, roll up, for all the fun of the faire and the greatest show (and tell) on Earth…
