Calling all makers! The fourth annual World Maker Faire New York is taking place on September 21 and 22 at the New York Hall of Science in Queens. Every year our East Coast event gets bigger and better, and we couldn’t be more excited to check out what the 2013 event has in store.

Call for Makers:

If you’re a maker with an awesome project to share with the community, there’s still a little time left to get your application in. The call for makers closes on Sunday, July 28. Apply today!

There are four types of entries:
Maker Exhibit – an all-weekend exhibit space to demonstrate your project(s)
Performer – a scheduled performance, usually on a stage, set lengths vary
Presenter – a scheduled 10, 20 or 45 minute presentation, usually on a stage
Sponsor – companies or commercial entities

We particularly encourage exhibits that are interactive and that highlight the process of making things.

Here are just some of the topics that we’re looking for:
♦ Student projects
♦ Robotics
♦ Arduino projects
♦ Raspberry Pi
♦ Space projects
♦ Food makers
♦ Conductive materials projects
♦ Kit makers

I'm a word nerd who loves to geek out on how emerging technology affects the lexicon. I was an editor on the first 40 volumes of MAKE, and I love shining light on the incredible makers in our community. In particular, covering art is my passion — after all, art is the first thing most of us ever made. When not fawning over perfect word choices, I can be found on the nearest mountain, looking for untouched powder fields and ideal alpine lakes.
