The Make:Way team finished 33rd out of 97th! The team posted up race details (and more).
We did it. Team Make:Way finished the 2008 24 Hours of Lemons race at Altamont raceway. That was our original goal: just finish the race. I’d have considered this all a success if we did that. If we finished in the top half, I’d be ecstatic.
We finished 33rd out of 97 entrants. Which is, essentially, pretty much just in the top third!
We’re all really, really happy with how everything went. Our dinky little Escort performed wonderfully– we had only one unplanned pit stop, and that was due to a broken wheel that excitingly decided to go its own way in the middle of a turn. We had zero mechanical problems, and all our obsessive attention to keeping everything cool worked far better than I would have guessed– we weren’t even running hot on a day when many, many other cars were sitting in the pits, spewing geysers of hot coolant up into the air.
