Bobby Cossum was at this year’s Maker Faire showing off his upgrades to Mitch Altman’s Brain Machine from MAKE Volume 10:

This is an upgrade to Mitch’s brain machine that requires moving the low pass filters from LED positions 3 and 4 to positions 4 and 5. New firmware provides superior audio and improved syncing of the LEDs with the binaural beats, as well as allowing software control of LED brightness. With an upgrade to the power supply, RGB LEDs are also supported. The firmware will also compile for an ATMegaX8 and will run on an Arduino.

You can download the code here, but be careful with it. This kid was still in the exhibit hall when we locked it up on Monday.
