In what I think is one of the first projects to make use of the extra features in the Arduino Uno, forum member ant.b posted instructions on how to reprogram the device so that it shows up as a USB joystick. This means that you can now make custom input devices for computers that can work with unmodified computer programs. No more writing special programs to send data between the arduino serial port and your games!
The process is a bit complicated right now (you have to make modifications to the board, and have to reverse the procedure every time you want to re-program the main Arduino), its a great start. I can’t wait to see what else people will come up with! [via Arduino Blog]
