Brendan tipped us off – The Optimus Maximus dynamic display keyboard is available for ownership, a steal @ only $1,589.99 (!) –
As you should know by now this amazing keyboard features a tiny screen on each key… that’s 113 screens in all. What can you do with these tiny screens you ask? Well each key can change it’s image dynamically depending on what you doing. Hold down SHIFT and all keys go uppercase. Run Photoshop and you can set it so each hotkey has an image representing it’s function.
Sounds like you’d be stuck designing the key/image layout for most apps – but at that price, you may just pay someone else to do it for you

Ever since this thing was announced, I thought it was a joke. And since it seemed to take two years to come to market, I was almost right.
A $1600 keyboard.
I spend exactly no time looking at my keyboard each week, as should anyone who has the slightest idea how to type. It’s wasteful, it’s ridiculous, it insanely expensive, and doesn’t add a lick of functionality to your computer rig.
Oh, but they, I’m sure it sucks some juice…so it’s perfect for Bizzaro-Earth Day! Now your keyboard can have a carbon footprint!
You want more space to show your itunes cover art? Go take a look at the monitor 1600 beans will get you. Yeah, that’s right…the 30 (THIRTY!) inch Dell widescreen, with 200 bucks left over to take a bunch of friends for sushi.
ACK, otherwise nice idea, but way too slow!
It is perhaps the antithesis of the apple bluetooth keyboard.
The name alone had me double-checking to make sure it wasn’t a left over april fools item
btw – when is this “Bizzaro-Earth Day!”?
I’m sure there are some neon-green items we could feature.
