Our newest Training Camp is a FREE camp called Making for Moms. The camp starts on July 1 (signup here). Moms are natural Makers who sometimes just need a little reminding of all the things they already make (children, meals, art projects, jobs, companies, etc.). Unfortunately, sometimes Moms lack the confidence to tinker in the shop, explore unfamiliar tools and technologies, or ask questions that may reveal they might not be the all-knowing oracles their children expect.
M2 Bootcamp is designed to “reconnect” you with your inner Rosie the Riveter through discussions, worksheets/journal prompts, and projects straight from the MakerShed. This 3 week course of projects with the theme of “Connecting” will take students on an incremental journey through painted circuits, soldering, and a final wearable keepsake.
This Camp is for Moms (or folks who have Moms, want to be a Mom, Kids Who Want A Maker Mom, Married to a Mom, Teachers of Moms…). It requires about an hour a week to watch the videos plus another an hour to do each project. There are four optional Google hangouts and a community to connect with the teacher and other students. You will also need the Bare Conductive Paint Card Kit, the MakerShed Learn to Solder Kit, the Maker Robot, and the MakerShed Soldering Watch Kit.
Sarah Hodsdon, who has had the honor of being awarded Craft and Hobby Association’s Best in Show and multiple Golden Press Kit Awards, will teach this Camp. Sarah has also been awarded Editor Choice awards at Maker Faire San Mateo 2011 and Maker Faire Detroit 2010.
