Game of Life – An electronics kit

Technology

In 1970, John Conway came up with a 1-player game called Game of Life. The Game of Life is a mathematical game that simulates ‘colonies’ that grow or die based on how crowded or lonely they are and is known for the way it creates a beautiful organic display out of randomness.

MAKE presents the Game of Life kit, Make one kit and keep it on your desk, or attach multiple kit modules together as shown in the video to create a large display, like a cube. Get one, four or fifty at the Maker Shed store!

Why are you guys pushing so much to sell this kit ? It seems there is at least one article each week promoting it. Did you add too many zeros in your order when having the boards made :-) ?

If you’re actually interested in the game of life, a very good and extremely fast software to explore this world is : http://golly.sourceforge.net/

@vivi – this is the new updated version, we happy to have it in after a period of not having any in stock. it’s a cool kit!

Isn’t it a ZERO player game, rather than a one player game? You don’t actually have any interaction with it, other than starting again.
