Pixlr is a simplified photo editor that runs right in your web browser. The interface is similar to Photoshop, though its tools are still a bit rudimentary. It’s the pet project of Swedish web developer Ola Sevandersson, and is still fairly beta, but there are some things I really like about it. For one, the File->Open and File->Save menus show off how seamless file interaction on the web can actually be. The other cool thing is that the application has layer support, which is one of the basic requirements of any photo editor (but often not seen in online experiments). Missing are selection rotation and transformation, among other things, but hopefully this will continue to be developed into a substitute for the 99% of what most folks use desktop photo editors for.
