Taking wiring, coding, and connector screws out of the equation, the folks at Modular Robotics (creators of 2011’s well-received Cubelets robotics system) have created MOSS: The Dynamic Robot Construction Kit. It’s a modular robotics kit with magnetic connectors, enabling you to literally snap together a robot in seconds and control it with your smartphone.

The blocks are color coded, with yellow faces transmitting power, blue and green data. The connectors are either rare earth magnets and steel ball bearings.

Modular Robotics is funding the project via a Kickstarter campaign and manufacturing the product out of their headquarters in Boulder, CO.
