This deliciously snappy, yet fudgy chocolate dip is surprisingly simple to make, needing just chocolate, coconut oil, and sweetener. The secret is the saturated fat in the coconut oil, which hardens when chilled.

We liked Max Falkowitz’s recipe using gourmet bittersweet chocolate balanced with a touch of corn syrup. So we made our own version with honey as the sweetener, and it didn’t disappoint.

Project Steps

Measure and mix.

Combine ingredients in a ceramic or glass bowl.

Nuke and stir.

Microwave in 15-second bursts, stirring well in between, until completely melted.

Store at room temperature, and stir if it separates.

Magic time!

Drizzle it on ice cream — or dip ice cream bars or cones right in it.

Let harden about 30 seconds, or until the glossy appearance takes on a matte finish. Crunch!
