Hey- I tried to refresh my podcast on itunes and it is not there, instead, I get a “This is not a valid podcast URL” message or it gives me a little exclamation point error next to it. I think either the link might have gotten messed up in the site roll-over, or (most likely) the podcast wont be available until Friday at least (I wonder, do they have to get approved by apple? idk)
Thanks! We’re taking a look at the problem. Hopefully it’ll be resolved soon.
This was resolved on our end yesterday (fall-out from the migration). We’re just not sure when it will be updated on the iTunes side. Hopefully “any minute now.”

Hey- Just looked again on itunes and there are 2 MAKE podcasts available. One that I’ve been using until now (labeled “MAKE Magazine: MAKE Podcast”) , and another one that has “clean” on it (labeled as just MAKE Magazine). Subscribed to the new one and its downloading the video now :)
I personally don’t really care that there are 2 now, I think it’s going to make my podcast sorting easier.. Just wanted to let you know it’s up :)

Also, the download link won’t let you download in Chrome. Although it does let you download with IE.

Becky Stern and Limer,
Does using the soldering iron ever affect the component ? Such as overheating or melting the component by heating the wire leads? For example, I was sodering a component to a board and the ceramic component melted!
Please reply!

NYR- it certainly does. The heat will transfer, (and quickly because the lead is thermally conductive), directly to the material if it’s a discrete component, (surface mount or through-hole), or directly through the pin of a micro to it’s bond wire (the wire that connects that silicon die to the lead).
Usually what happens though, when you hold a soldering iron on a pin too long is that the material around the pin starts to melt, causing the lead to fall off or melt too.
My tip– in addition to using solder with flux inside of it, is to use additional flux, (like in a flux pen), to clean the pad and the part you are soldering. And, make sure your iron is hot enough.
Mike
