We’re only a few weeks out from Maker Faire Bay Area, and things are really gearing up for a fantastic weekend. As a special countdown to Maker Faire, we’ll be profiling some of the awesome folks who will be at Bazaar Bizarre at Maker Faire. Even if you aren’t able to be at Maker Faire, you don’t want to miss out on the work of these fantastic vendors. Today we introduce you to Jackie of WoolBuddy.
Tell us about what you’ll be showcasing at Maker Faire/Bazaar Bizarre:
In 2009, I created WoolBuddy, a collection of unique characters who come to life through the art of needle felting. Today, the WoolBuddy collection consists of colorful animals, vibrant sea creatures, friendly and lovable monsters, and much more.
How did you get started hand crafting your goods?
Several years ago when my daughter was just born, I was trying to make some earth and children fridenly toys for her. I found the needle felt is perfect project for this.
What are your main sources of inspiration?
I worked in the animation industy so my most inspiration is from the animated character.
What new idea (in or outside of your field) has excited you most recently?
Every time I create a new character and people like it that excites me the most.
What is your motto?
See the smile on people’s face when they see my work.
