Arwen pointed us to this intriguing story about Canada’s official entry for the architecture portion of this fall’s Venice Bienale Event. SweaterLodge, created by design firm Pechet and Robb, will become a massive pavilion designed as giant orange polar fleece. The polar fleece fabric itself is made from recycled plastic drink containers.

Lodge Model

From the site, “As visitors enter the pavilion they encounter a series of stationary bicycles. When pedalled, the bikes will operate digital film projections which show vignettes of a city which intertwines wilderness with modern urban life. SweaterLodge envisions a future where daily objects become multi-functional. A sweater becomes a lodge, shipping containers become sofas and bicycles become projectors. After the exhibition, the 350 m2 sweater will be recycled into hats, scarves and mitts for the community.Link.
