And now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for… Seth Hardy of Site 3 coLaboratory has merged a flamethrower with the NeuroSky MindSet EEG, creating the PK4A project and bringing pyrokinesis from science fiction into reality. Ok, so it happens to require an EEG headset and some propane tanks, but the end result is the same. Cool stuff!
PK4A stands for “Pyrokinesis for Alex”, where Alex is the last person you’d want to have the ability to shoot fire with the power of her mind. Using a wireless EEG headset and a control unit connected to a flame effect, participants can create 20′+ blasts of fire with their thoughts.

Telekinesis is rooted in tele(from afar), and kinesis(to move). Literally translated as: moved from afar. The roots for pyrokenisis are pyro (fire), and kinesis (to move) so pyrokinesis should literally be translated to: moved by fire. Then again, words have only the meanings we give them. All things considered though, it is still a nifty project!
