Desert Appliqué

Artist Léa Donnan takes ornamental needlework into the natural environment by staking shelters made of salvaged pieces of crochet into the ground in an enigmatic work called Desert Appliqué.

These works were installed in Joshua Tree, California, for arts organization High Desert Test Sites, but Donnan has done more salvaged crocheted works in a series called Shelter.
