“Electric MoOns” creates the world’s largest physical 3D display using 100 white balloons floating in a dark room that slowly move vertically arranged as pixels in a 10×10 grid. When music is played, the balloons synchronize their movements and their interiors are illuminated bv dimmable super-bright LEDs. Now if only there was a way to plug in a TV antenna and watch the news balloon style.

I’ve seen their ATOM-performance at Tesla/Berlin. It was one of the most amazing things I’ve seen recently.
Overwhelming those balloons lighting up in the dark, moving around and listening to loud minimal electronic sounds. This can’t be felt in Youtube-videos.
If you ever have the chance to see it, don’t miss it.
Hello and thanx for mentioning the project. Some minor additions: It is a matrix of 8 x 8 balloons, the 10×10 on Christophers website is outdated info :-( The balloons and a software to control the movements ad the illumination have been created by Christopher Bauder and he named this work “Electric MoOns”, which is more an installation. The photo here is from the first “ATOM” performance in Berlin in November 2007 . Atom is: the movement of the balloons controlled by Christopher, and the music and the LEDs controlled and performed by me, to create a more synchronous and performance-like scenario. The photo was taken by Justine Lera.
