After spending a winter “in my room alone with a hot glue gun,” coast-to-coast cardboard maker and artist Robin Frohardt recently released Fitzcardboardaldo, a short remake of Fitzcarraldo using primarily cardboard, with a little bit of pen and twine. Complete with a puppet rubber baron, cardboard is great for everything from costumes to furniture and now film animation!

You left out the best part! The making-of video called “Corrugation of Dreams”!
I think of Fitzcarraldo as an influence in my becoming a maker, a doer of things. It’s a film about maniacal obsession, sure, but it’s also about the love of the task, and the ecstasy that comes from seeing a project through, even if it ends in total failure.
