GE Garages is a mobile manufacturing lab that celebrates technologists, entrepreneurs, and everyday people with a one-of-a kind opportunity to discover modern prototyping and manufacturing processes, collaborate in hands-on workshops, participate in specialized manufacturing training and education, and learn from guest speakers.

GE Garages appeared at SXSW 2012, Rice University in Houston, TX and received the editors choice award at Maker Faire Bay Area 2012. In each location attendees, tinkerers, and inventors rolled up their sleeves to make manufacturing magic with the experts.

The Making Things challenge is to design a window installation, and the winner gets $20K to make it happen. MAKE’s very own Sherry Huss is one of the judges. The deadline is 9/20/12. [via Ponoko]
