Geek graffiti takes on New York

Wired on geek graffiti – “The group of 12 graffiti artists surrounds its target, a sculpture in Manhattan known as The Cube, and waits for the signal to begin tagging it up. It’s a daunting task — the 15-foot sculpture in Astor Place was recently coated with anti-graffiti paint. But within seconds, The Cube is covered in LED Throwies, the latest innovation from the Graffiti Research Lab, or GRL, an open-source think tank dedicated to developing new methods and tools for street artists.”Link.

Am I the only one who’s seen enough of the “LED Throwies” stuff? Okay, we get it already. You stuck an LED and watch battery to a magnet, and now you’re chucking them at any object that contains ferrous metal. This isn’t really all that “MAKEish”, it’s becoming kind of redundant.

brk, yah – you should see our inboxes, every day – throwies OMG! so, this is likely the last of it for a bit.

BrK, you’re not the only one.

This is really making lose interest in make. Along with yet another voltaic cell made with household parts, and yet another person built a pov toy.

They need to rename themselves “Made: Technology that’s been there and done it”.

  4. philliptorrone says:

c’mon guys cut me a little slack… out of the over 4,000 posts on make there are maybe 10 pov/throwie posts…

*you can* submit links, sites and project too :-]
