“They are pretty good for valentines day…”
It appears someone has a very forgiving significant other…. ;-)
My brother-in-law proposed to his girlfriend with, among other things, duct tape roses. Link
While the etymology of “duct” vs. “duck” is unclear (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duct_tape#Etymology ) one thing that is clear is that common “duct” tape is remarkably bad as a sealer of ducts. In fact, it is banned for that purpose in many building codes.
I therefore propose that MAKE: and CRAFT: standards and practices policy adopt the universal use of the “duck” tape form.
Pedantically yours

Nooo… don’t!!!
Duct Tape is a name of a type of tape. Duck Tape is a brand name of said tape. (MP3 player vs iPod) Duck Tape is put out by Henkel Inc and is really some of the WORST duct tape I have ever used. (The iPod of duct tape: Everyone uses it because it has the best ad campaign, not because it’s proven better than all the others)

Actually, I’ve just discovered Permacel gaffer’s tape – so for me the question is now moot. As a “von” I require only the very best and I do not expect to be using that plebian duc[k|t] tape again.
BTW: Gorilla brand tape seems quite nice too.
Jake.

Nice, that’s helpful for me!
