I’m one of those people who has mixed feelings when I see altered books (and chairs made of books!) – I love the creativity, but I hate seeing books full of information destroyed. I know what you mean, it always makes me feel a bit uncomfortable too but then I always think that it’s that or being chucked out. That’d be fair worse.
I’m forever hauling boxes of paperbacks round to my sister and she repairs them with her thermal binder. I just can’t bear to throw them out. Books are like old friends.
