I’m a girl who likes a lot of color. And, in clothing, I’m all but helpless to resist the call of appliques, contrast colors, and fabric insets. That’s why I’m such a fan of this tutorial from Crafty Mamas, which shows you how to update a t-shirt pattern to include contrast fabrics and a faux button plaquette, creating the look of a vintage tab-front shirt. In the tutorial, they make the updates on a specific t-shirt pattern, but you can use the same method to update any shirt with a simple front. Then, if you want to get really fancy, you can even add some colored piping around the contrast fabric to match the buttons!
