Dinosaurs and Robots recently posted about the work of Alison Elizabeth Taylor. As a fellow Angeleno, I couldn’t agree more with Mister Jalopy’s musings about the inlaid wood technique she uses being a perfect match for the sun-soaked vistas that make her subject matter.

The art is ancient, at least pre-renaissance, and is called Marquetry. There is an international society as well, for those who are interested. My father was an avid marqueter, and his works are loved additions to his legacy. Beautiful work, Alison!
