Wow. Everything old is new again. I did one of these back in 1979 using an IMSAI 8080 and a pair of military surplus stepping motors. Later on I built them into a robot. The problem with driving a robot with stepping motors is that you get step skipping because of intertia.
That is one hell of a PC there!
