These incredible 3D machine embroidery works by artist Lindsay Taylor are a wonderful reminder of how unbelievably versatile fiber can be as a medium. Taylor explained in an interview with TextileArtist.org how she goes about turing machine embroidery into fantastic 3D sculptures.

Using freehand machine embroidery, I stitch onto water dissolvable fabric stretched over a traditional embroidery hoop. Making sure my stitches are interlinking, to produce a new woven fabric that is manipulated by hand into my desired shape and creating 3d textile art.
