There are many leaf blowers out there, but this one… is Steve’s – Link.

where/how was the blower attachment made or acquired? Or is this really functional?

sure does look like an autozone exaust tip on a chainsaw. The picture set calls it a mini-revver, and dont mention leaf blowing. one pic appears to have smoke coming out the tip. All leaves in set appear to be undisturbed.

Not really up to the MAKE standard here….IMHO

Mildly interesting, and good looking too.

maker modded “something” and put it in the make flickr photo pool – i think that fits the standard :)

Too True. I regretted that sentence upon posting. I looked deeper into it, and there are other “revvers” out there, and click on steve’s name, and it leads to a VERY well crafted revver.

I am ignorant of why one would build one of these. I must learn.

AH HA! Its art. No wonder I dont understand it….

    From the artist’s profile:

” Through merging aspects of utility and subversion, my work attempts to highlight activities like burning rubber, engine revving and stereo thumping as a form of spatial production and cultural expression. Considered by some people as “hyper-masculine” or examples of “boy art”, my work thoughtfully glimpses at the unfolding aspects of masculinity through the visual cues of working class consciousness, cultural truisms, prototypes and customs.”

I have wandered into deep waters here!
But I understand why one would build this. Wish granted.

I know Steve. He was doing his Master’s in Studio Art at the university that I went to for Art. His modded machines isolate certain elements of the machine’s function, but don’t actually “do” anything. This is just a “revver”. It runs the engine and makes a lot of noise and smoke, but that’s it. He’s also got machines he’s made that are just wheels attached to motors that he does burnouts with, manually, by holding the machine. He’s a super nice, down-to-earth kind of guy. He’s a total gearhead and also really smart. Can’t say enough good things about this guy, really. And if you asked him about it, he’d totally answer any of your questions.

You can read and see more about him and his work here. I was at the party where he did the “Canada Day” performance. It was wicked, the neighbours were stoked.
